Stress, Burnout and Work / Life Balance

Stress, Burnout and Work / Life Balance

Sometimes the hassles of everyday life can seem overwhelming. It is all too easy to lose your way and feel overwhelmed. Our team can help you manage the day to day stresses, and develop a plan for self-compassion and self-care. We will help you to find “enough time” for you to do the things you deeply care about, whilst fulfilling your responsibilities to others.

Generalised Anxiety Disorder

Generalised Anxiety Disorder

Our team can help when you find yourself worrying about a range of things (it could be many things from the wellbeing of your loved ones, to getting the housework done on time). Worry can be difficult to ‘switch off’. When this kind of worry is persistent, intense and chronic over time, it can interfere with your life. At the Anxiety and Stress Clinic we can help you make sense of this worry, and overcome it.

Social Phobia

Social Phobia

Our team can help if you struggle with feeling anxious in social situations. The fears and anxiety centres around fear of negative evaluation from others, and / or being embarrassed or humiliated. Social anxiety is often present in normal everyday situations and can have a restrictive and negative impact on our relationships and the way in which we live our lives. We can help you to overcome your social phobia and increase positive relationships.

Panic Attacks / Disorder

Panic Attacks / Disorder

Our team can help people who are struggling with panic attacks, where anxiety symptoms seem to come upon you suddenly and are associated with a number of uncomfortable physical sensations (e.g. heart palpitations, breathlessness etc.). Often people who experience these attacks worry about having further attacks, and begin to restrict and avoid things in life as a way of coping. We can help you understand why you feel the way you do, and help you to open up your life again.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Our team can treat people who experience anxiety provoking thoughts that are intrusive, distressing and unwanted. Often in an attempt to manage such thoughts, people can engage in rituals which they acknowledge are excessive and unreasonable. An example may be someone washing their hands repeatedly and excessively to manage fears of contamination or illness. Often such ritualised behaviours can begin to take over life. We can help you to understand why this cycle of fear has dominated your life, and assist you in reclaiming agency and vitality.

Specific Phobias

Specific Phobias

Our team can help people who have particular fears around a specific identifiable object or situation, for example a fear of spiders, heights, flying etc. Fears are quite common. However it is when such fears become intense and prolonged, and begin to create avoidance patterns that dominate and dictate the way in which we live our lives that they are considered a ‘phobia’. Our team can assist you in understanding why such fears dominate your life, and help you find a path toward greater freedom.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Many people experience traumas in life (for example life changing events such as a very serious accident or fire, being physically assaulted, seeing another person harmed and so on..). Sometimes after such traumas people can experience such things as flashbacks, nightmares and agitation, and actively avoid things that remind them of the event. These symptoms (amongst others) when prolonged can interfere with normal living. Our team can provide the help you need to make sense of the trauma and move forward into a life of meaning and expanding purpose.
